Weighted blankets and accessories designed to provide deep pressure input — a proven calming strategy for anxiety, sensory processing differences, and sleep challenges. Used by occupational therapists across New Zealand since 2007.
Not sure which weight to choose? A general guide is 10% of body weight. Our blankets are sized to fit the body, not the bed — so the weight stays where it's needed most.
Why choose our weighted blankets?
We've been making quality weighted blankets for hospital, school, community, and home settings since 2007. We understand that the most vulnerable members of our community often use our blankets, and our aim is to provide a high-quality product that delivers proprioceptive input in the safest way possible.
Understanding weight concentration (GSM)
We measure the weight of our blankets in grams per square metre (GSM). Our large blankets range from 5,000 to 6,670 GSM:
- 5kg weighted blanket — approx. 5,000 GSM (1m x 1.1m)
- 7.5kg weighted blanket — approx. 5,350 GSM (1m x 1.5m)
- 10kg weighted blanket — approx. 6,670 GSM (1m x 1.5m)
- 12kg weighted blanket — approx. 6,420 GSM (1.1m x 1.70m)
Why blanket size matters
We make weighted blankets to fit on the body, not the bed. A queen-sized blanket spreads the weight across a much larger area — meaning far less pressure on the body where it's needed. Our blankets concentrate the weight exactly where it counts.
How our blankets are made
- Weighted with plastic pellets sewn into double-stitched cells for even distribution
- Pellets are washable and dryer-safe
- Inner fabric: poly-cotton drill — strong, durable, and weighted
- Each blanket uses approximately 7 metres of fabric
- Heavy-duty outer stitching for long-term durability
Note: Lap pads, lap blankets, and shoulder weights are weighted with glass pellets. These are not washable and have a wipeable nylon outer.
