These weighted products are designed to help calm/relax the user. Individuals who have difficulties tolerating or registering sensory stimuli may respond positively to heavy touch or pressure. Some individuals find stronger sensations more comfortable and calming. Therapists usually recommend 5-10% of body weight for weighted vest and shoulder weights.
When using weighted products, do not cover the head with them. Weighted products should be used under the guidance of an appropriate professional. Do not exceed the time or weight recommendations. When using weighted products with children, always use under adult supervision.
Sensory Corner lap pads and lap blankets are weighted with sand and/or steel and the larger weighted blankets are weighted with plastic.
The non washable nylon covered lap pads, lap blankets, shoulder weights and weighted blankets can be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not wash or submerge in water.
The washable blankets can be warm hand washed or gentle machine washed (check your machine's specifications, as some products may be too heavy). Air dry only.
The weighted animals can be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not dry clean, tumble dry, iron, heat, or put any of the weighted products mentioned above near a heat source.
