These products are designed to help calm/relax the user. Individuals who have difficulties tolerating or registering particular stimuli may respond positively to heavy touch/pressure. Some individuals find stronger sensations more comfortable and calming.
Therapists usually recommend around 5% or 10% of the individual's body weight (vests).
When using weighted products, do not cover the head with them. Weighted products are designed to help calm/relax the user and are not designed to be used as a way to restrict or restrain an individual. Weighted products should be used under the guidance of an appropriate professional. Do not exceed the time or weight as recommended by the therapist.
When using weighted products with children, always use under adult supervision.
The Lap pads and lap blankets are weighted with sand and/or steel. The vest weights are weighted with steel, and the weighted blankets are weighted with recycled plastic.
Do not wash, submerge in water, dryclean, tumble dry, of iron any of the products containing sand or steel.
The non-washable plastic pellet blankets can be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not wash or submerge in water. Do not dryclean, tumble dry or iron.
The washable blankets can be warm hand washed or gentle machine washed (check your machine's specifications first as some products may be too heavy). Air dry only. Do not dryclean, tumble dry, or iron.
Do not heat any of the weighted products mentioned above or put them near a heat source.
